Book a Garden Tending Session
1:1 Consult/Garden Meet and Greet
This session is when I get to meet you, your garden and get the sense of the space.
My work is tied to the weather and the cycles of seasons.
I have come to know many plants - their natures and their songs and their scientific names. My gardening work ties me to the external environment and the nature of where I live—the ecosystem energy, and the connection to the beings that inhabit the space.
I believe our gardens are works of art.
My work is a conversation with and about:
Nature - metaphorically our outer environment (in this case - your garden)
Human nature (how we interact with our environment - individual, communal, universal) variable
Art - coming to know our inner nature
This may seem a little bit “woo” or over the top when it comes to tending a garden - but you will see and feel the magical effects of a harmonious and intentional garden space through your wellbeing and overall happiness.
Maintenance
Need to weed your garden bed?
Are there some pesky things that need your attention?
Wondering why your plants aren’t thriving?
No idea what plants, shrubs and trees you have…?
Spring/Fall Clean-up
Winter Dormancy Preparations
No TIME to maintain your own garden?
Pruning. Weeding. Mulching. Deadheading. Everyday maintenance.
I believe our homes and gardens are our intimate places :
where we can be ourselves
let our guard down
where wonder is around every curve of the path and awe awaits

To Whom It May Concern:
Good day to you! This is a letter recommending the wonderful Karrie Kirchner to create a Tranquility Garden for your organization.
I've known Karrie since she was a little girl and have seen her blossom into a beautiful, creative and spiritual soul. When I moved into my new home in Marlborough CT, I was chagrined to see the state of the gardens. You see, I left a garden that I had created and nurtured for over 20 years in Glastonbury. I was so happy that she was able to help me create a new beautiful space. She took 3 areas that were bare and soul-less and, with some input from me, turned them into a vibrant spot. We only started the process 1 1/2 years ago, so we have a little more work to do. (A pollinator garden is our latest endeavor.)
Karrie regularly checks in and does spring and fall planting and clean up work. I have gotten many compliments from my condo neighbors who stubbornly cling to their shrubs, and am now known as the Flower Lady.
Do yourselves a favor and give Karrie the opportunity to give you the most wonderful Tranquility Garden. As you can see from my before and after pictures, she can create a beautiful space.
Most sincerely,

Re: Karrie Kirchner
To whom it may concern,
I have known Karrie for more than a year, meeting her at Essex Meadows, having moved from Utah in October, 2023. For three months prior to my actual move, through emails, I was in contact with with her.
During that period, and after the actual move into my Essex Meadow’s apartment, we developed a personal relationship. I found her to be exceptionally talented in both design and selection of plantings. She was always willing to consider my ideas so the end result was completely satisfactory to both of us.
Karrie is passionate about the Earth, gardening, and protecting our environment. I highly recommended her for your landscaping project.

Re: Karrie Kirchner
To Whom It May Concern:
I am delighted to have the chance to write in support of Karrie Kirchner, who has done a wonderful job putting my little garden in order. She has been very quick to help me and has made up for my lack of gardening skill and knowledge, development of which began and ended in my parents’ WW II Victory Garden.
After I moved to Essex Meadows earlier this year, I discovered that there had been a small garden outside my apartment which had been planted by a resident – now deceased – but had not been maintained for several years. Consequently, it had become a jungle mostly of weeds. There were the remains of what I understand had once been flowering plants, but all their flowers had died and only dried stems remained.
At that point I had the choice of planting grass or resurrecting the garden. I took the latter road but knew immediately I needed professional assistance, partly because I knew very little about gardening and partly because I wasn’t strong or flexible enough to do the physical labor involved.
Essex Meadows recommended Karrie, who came very promptly. The first job was to eliminate the jungle, which she did quite quickly and left the area neat and tidy with a layer of mulch to keep the weeds down. We then discussed what to plant and decided that the first step should be to plant evergreen shrubs. Karrie showed me various options. There were two problems: first there was no direct sunlight on the area, which reduced the possible choices. Second, there was no water supply.
With Karrie’s guidance we agreed what were sound choices visually and would flourish without much direct sun. Essex Meadows provided the water supply, and Karrie provided an irrigation system that was simple, relatively inexpensive, and manageable from an app on my iPhone. This last was important because it eliminated the risk of my falling while trying to get out and turn the water on and off. As soon as we had water, Karrie got the shrubs and planted them.
Our next step was to begin choosing perennials that would brighten the area. We have started that process and have already planted a number of flowering perennials, with more on the way, which should be planted shortly. We will then select and order bulbs that will give us some color in the spring. After we see what, if anything, pops up from the old garden, we can decide what, if anything more, there is to do. (My hope is to have something flowering from early spring until late fall and to have any dead plants pruned or removed along the way.)
All this has happened in about 6 weeks. Throughout, Karrie has been fully engaged, incredibly knowledgeable, and enormous fun to work with. She clearly has excellent technical skills and a clear vision about how to develop and implement sound plans. She also has clear ideas about how to deal with future unknowns, like the possible spring surprises that might appear from the old garden. Her hourly rates seem reasonable, and she’s very efficient and doesn’t run up the bill. In addition, Karrie has a good working relationship with the Essex Meadows staff in charge of maintaining the grounds.
In short, I feel very fortunate to have Karrie working for me. She does great work, most efficiently, and at a very fair price. She also is most enthusiastic and wonderful to work with.

Sincerely yours,
