Spiritual Companioning Art
Art has been my constant Spiritual Companion. My own process was born in middle school. A great desire to fit in and belong yearned and burned inside of me. I wanted to be liked. I wanted to be wanted. My deep insides desired to be experienced - but I did not yet know how to be honoured.
My outpouring of art covered every square centimeter of wall-space in my bedroom in my adolescence. I don’t remember which wall I started on - probably an obscured wall because I was strictly forbidden to use tape on our plaster walls. I remember physically tearing, ripping and cutting. National Geographics - for their authentic, worldly photography. Piecing and taping. In reflecting, I went through a mental, physical and spiritual process cutting out my world and putting it back together again.
I used my art to find beauty. It was and IS all around me. My art reveals a story. MY STORY. My CENTERING COLLAGE process takes me deeper into the highs and lows of my life. Centering Collage helps me extract the meaning and purpose to the pain points of my life.
