Collage Process

In a recent session with my Spiritual Director, we talked about my need to create art.  She shared with me that creating art is a holy sacrament because the act of creating art makes the invisible visible.  From the unseen mystery, artist’s hands manifest the holy into the tangible world.  Creation is indeed a spiritual practice.  In creating art, artists create works that begin dialogue and those dialogues expand and invite individuals to join the conversation.

I believe creating art is a necessary act.  It is a requirement in my life.  It is where I directly encounter the Divine.  Spirit moves through me and bursts forth from my hands.

May art spring forth from my hands.

Within me is an inexhaustible fountain of creation.

Thoughts, emotions, connections and vision well up from within and erupt out of my fingertips.

I believe artists are the record keepers of the human experience.  We have a duty to humanity to express the currents of our era/time/culture.

Collage is one of my favorite mediums because of its simplicity and accessibility.

Paper & glue.

Cut & paste.

From the humble beginnings - discarded magazines and scotch tape, my hands are able to hold paper and glue.  Through the act of cutting and pasting - piecing together my journey of spiritual seeking.
